The Mother of All Poses

22 May 2017

Greetings Everyone!

In the yoga tradition, Shoulderstand is referred to as ‘the mother of all poses’ due to its nurturing effect and the way it helps relieve so many common ailments, such as anxiousness, constipation, insomnia, and even migraine headaches. The legendary yoga teacher B.K.S. Iyengar once wrote, “As a mother strives for harmony and happiness in the home, so this pose strives for harmony and happiness in the human system.” So many of the mothers that I know are tremendously adept at tending to the needs of their family, but they often times forget the importance of harmonizing themselves. MyYogaToGo was created as a solution to this predicament. You know that without some form of self-care, your ability to effectively serve others is diminished. And you also know that it’s just downright difficult to fit self-care into your busy schedule. So we’ve made it easy for you to replenish your energy and re-balance your body/mind in a short amount of time, wherever you are.

As a belated tribute to Mother’s Day, we are happy to announce that our two recent releases were designed for women and are taught by women. In Lunar Eclipse, Katherine Jilbert uses prop modifications and verbal cues specifically suited to the female body to guide you through a 20-minute practice that is both invigorating and calming. Then in On The Go Flow, Shannon Hill shares one of her favorite 30-minute recipes for shoulder opening, hip opening, arm strengthening, leg lengthening, chest opening, spine rejuvenating, and breath giving awesomeness. This fluid routine was crafted for women with hectic lives in order to help them transmute that constant motion into inner stillness and spaciousness. And if you’re curious about ‘the mother of all poses’ and interested in experiencing some of its benefits yourself, then remember to check out Women’s Essential Series 2. This video teaches the fundamentals of how to safely practice Shoulderstand, and it also explains the theory behind why it supposedly regulates hormonal balance and unleashes the body’s healing energies. Hope you enjoy!

Take care,

Geoffrey
