Balance Through Movement

20 Mar 2017

Greetings Everyone!

I recently saw a television advertisement that was seductively silly and curiously compelling. It featured people of all different shapes and sizes doing very mundane things like picking over produce at the grocery store, waiting in line at the bus stop, and folding laundry on the living room floor. Somehow music kicked on and these people started rhythmically moving their body in the ‘dance like no one is watching’ sort of way. Goofy gyrations of the pelvis, spontaneous shaking and swinging of the limbs, and facial expressions that indicated the joy of pure presence. It turned out to be a public service announcement with the slogan, “movement is the best medicine.”

Each of this week’s new releases features movements that are designed to usher your body back into a condition of balance. Free Hips 2 focuses on subtle movements inside the hip sockets that have a profound effect on the health of the feet, legs, pelvis, and spine. Known in MyYogaToGo parlance as the ‘internal and external rotation conversation,’ this 25-minute exploration will help restore stability and ease to your entire body. Meanwhile, Balance Through Movement is a moving meditation of sun salutations, standing poses, and seated twists that uses steady, rhythmic breathing to induce a state of relaxed vibrancy. Each of these practices will help you transcend stiffness whether you’ve been sitting for too long or running too hard. Hope you enjoy!

Take care,
Geoffrey
